We Are Models!! (Sort of)

Okay. So maybe we’re not FASHION models. But someone drew an AMAZING pic of us last weekend! And that made us feel SUPER COOL.

It was an eventful weekend at #DateMe & 1959 Kitchen & Bar.

As you know, we always call our audience members Rockstars because you ARE.

But this week we met some REAL Rockstars. From SWEDEN!

Meet “I Hate Anime”…

I’m pretty sure that was a joke username because our audience volunteer Matt is an animation student at Columbia College. That’s him with the cast standing to the left of Sam.

Matt was one of those audience volunteers we are instantly glad we picked. He was funny and kind and some of his 6 Things included Sushi and Watercolors. ADORABLE.

We fell in love with him even more when we asked…

“What are you looking for in a romantic partner?”

And he unabashedly, without hesitation said:

“Hot Dudes”.

We love you, Matt!

1959: Where All The Cool People Hang

Now, if you’ve been to the show you know that after our late shows the cast goes downstairs to 1959 Kitchen & Bar to have a drink and meet the audience.

Well, we were seated at our booth and we noticed Matt and his Dad sitting at the bar. And as we were sitting there we saw him glance at us… several times.

And then we got VERY EXCITED.

Was He Drawing A Picture Of Us?

Please, please, PLEASE let this be true!

We honestly couldn’t tell. It looked like he kept looking at Sam Super. Was he just drawing Sam? All of us? I was DYING to know.

I was trying to play it cool and be calm but the longer it went on the more I started to think he was just drawing a picture for one of his classes.

And then he got up and crossed over to us! YES!!!!

He handed the picture to Sam and it was …

A Drawing Of ALL OF US!

I mean, this is pretty accurate. Look at Terrence’s hair. And Sam’s hair and glasses! And Greg’s posture. That is EXACTLY how he sits!

Matt said to me:

“I couldn’t capture you accurately because you move around too much.”

Yep. That sounds about right. But I think I look pretty good. Everyone does. I LOVE this pic.

We also got a pic with Matt and his dad.

They both said goodnight and neither of them knew how INSANELY happy he had just made us.

The picture was drawn on receipt paper but you can’t tell. And I love it SO much I framed it.

It sits near my desk at home as inspiration when I’m writing.

Well, that was amazing. 1959 you have outdone yourself. But WAIT…

These Swedish Rockers Are Now Our Friends!

Yep. Last Saturday night we hung out with these guys and had the BEST time. That’s John on the right and Mike between me & Greg.

They had randomly come to our show after ducking into a dive bar during the day in Ukranian Village (to avoid the ridiculous Chicago RAIN). There, they met another couple who were coming to see #DateMe and the rest is history. They’re in the states for two weeks and have no plans. I LOVE that.
