We were really surprised that we had a packed house for our 8pm show, given that the Cubs haven’t gone to the World Series since 1945.
BUT we WERE packed. AND the audience was really respectful.
I expected to see tons of guys on their phones during the show. But those that were, did a great job of hiding it.
I had a hunch something had happened during my final monologue when I heard someone rush out and slam the door to the theatre quickly. But the rest of the audience, remarkably, stayed with us.
As I walked offstage before the curtain call Dana whispered…
“Cubs Won”
We quickly did our bows and the show outro and then the audience erupted in applause. I’d like to take credit for that but I’m pretty sure it was for the Cubs.
Kudos to the audience for being so respectful. And congratulations, Chicago!!!!
Now, back to our regularly scheduled Dating Stories:
Anyway, she met Werner and they immediately deleted all their dating apps! Because they just KNEW.
Then they came to see #DateMe to laugh at all the ridiculousness that they no longer have to deal with!
Congratulations Elyse & Werner! So happy you found each other!
Audience Member Of The Week:
So we usually feature one of the Volunteers from the actual show. But this week our Favorite Audience members were two guys sitting front and center right by the stage.
You may recognize them from the TracyLovesCats KITTIES pic at the top of this post.
A Lot Of Times The Audience Doesn’t Realize That WE CAN SEE YOU!!!
Most of the time people are laughing and having fun. But occasionally we do see:
Random Drunk Girl Passed Out On Her Friend’s Shoulder
Girl Taking Selfies of HERSELF While We’re Onstage
People Who Came To A Comedy Show But Can’t Crack A Smile
Hey, it’s all good.
You do YOU.
Our job is to entertain you and if it’s not your cup of tea or you’re got something else going on, seriously, no worries.
But In Order To Not Let It Bring Us Performers Down, I Have A Trick I Do.
If I see someone with a sour face, I immediately look to find someone else to focus on. I like to pick select audience members out who are genuinely smiling and laughing and I think to myself…
“I’m doing this show for THEM.”
And Phil & Jason were just those people. Sitting in the front row, giving us so much love and so many laughs.
But The Favorite Part For Me Was At The End Of The Show.
We have a moment where Dana Robie takes an audience member’s hand and serenades him lovingly.
And when she came up to Phil he was so genuinely enthusiastic and adorable that it seriously touched our hearts. He totally played along with the moment and it was just a perfect moment in the show.
We also got to meet them in the lobby after the show.
